Vancouver will become the final Western Conference team to face the Predators for the first time in 2009-10 tonight, and Nashville will be looking to beat the Canucks on home ice for the first time since a 6-0 victory on Nov. 23, 2006 – the only game in franchise history where a pair of netminders (Tomas Vokoun and Chris Mason) teamed up to earn a shutout. Vancouver took three-of-four games a season ago, despite outshooting Nashville in only one of the four. But, the Predators won the most recent matchup on Jan. 28 at GM Place – a 5-3 win behind three power-play goals. The game also saw the Predators rally from a 3-1 deficit late in the second period and early in the third frame for what was the first of five wins in a six-game span from Jan. 28-Feb. 6. Since the start of 2005-06, the Predators are 3-3-2 in the Music City against Vancouver, and 8-8-(1)-4 against the ‘Nucks here all-time.

All-time series highlight: On March 9, 2006 at GM Place, David Legwand tied a modern-day NHL record by scoring only six seconds into overtime giving Nashville a 3-2 win. It was the Predators first win at the venue since March 31, 2000.

Martin Erat (1g-2a) and Dan Hamhuis (3a) tied for the team high in points against Vancouver last season… Since joining the Predators, Steve Sullivan has eight points (3g-5a) in eight games… The Predators have four B.C. natives on their currently roster, including half of their defensive corps. Shea Weber and Cody Franson grew up down the street from each other in Sicamous, and played in the province up until turning pro – Weber with the Kelowna Rockets (WHL) and Franson with the Vancouver Giants (WHL). Smithers-born Dan Hamhuis did likewise, playing his junior hockey in Prince George. Jerred Smithson is also from British Columbia, hailing from Vernon.

Dave Scatchard was drafted 42nd overall (second round) by the Canucks in the 1994 Entry Draft, and spent his first two-and-a-half NHL seasons with the club (1997-99), notching 54 points (26g-28a) in 179 games before being traded to the New York Islanders, along with Kevin Weekes and Bill Muckalt, for Felix Potvin and draft picks on Dec. 19, 1999… Nashville Associate Coach Brent Peterson is a former Canuck, playing 146 games with Vancouver from 1985-87, amassing 53 points (15g-38a).
