Director of Hockey Operations
Brian Poile enters his sixth season with the Nashville Predators as the Director of Hockey Operations in 2015-16. Poile's primary responsibilities include managing the club’s roster, payroll, salary cap, research and negotiation of player contracts, salary arbitration preparation and overseeing minor league affiliation agreements with the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals and ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones. He is also involved with fiscal and strategic planning, evaluating pro and amateur players, compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, administration with NHL’s Central Registry as well as the day-to-day business operations of the hockey department.
Poile began his career with the NHL’s Dallas Stars, spending one season as the Stars’ Director of Team Services and three seasons as the Director of Hockey Operations for their AHL affiliate, the Utah Grizzlies, in Salt Lake City. In his role in Utah, Poile managed the Grizzlies hockey department, club roster, budget, player contracts, team travel, schedules, training camps, AHL/ECHL/CHL scouting and player call-ups. He also served as an Alternate Team Governor, managed the Grizzlies affiliation agreements with the Dallas Stars (NHL), Montreal Canadiens (NHL), Lexington Men-o-War (ECHL), New Mexico Scorpions (CHL) and Idaho Steelheads (ECHL) as well as the administration and compliance of the AHL and Professional Hockey Players Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Hockey roots run deep in the Poile family. He is the son of Predators’ President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile, and grandson of Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee, Norman "Bud" Poile. Poile earned his bachelor's degree in communications at Boston College in 2000.
Poile, his wife, Valerie, and dogs, Wiley and Dexter reside in Nashville.
