Thomas G. Cigarran
Chairman and Alternate Governor
Tom Cigarran was a co-founder, former chairman and CEO and current Chairman Emeritus and Director of Healthways, Inc. He was also a co-founder and former Chairman and CEO and a current Director of AmSurg Corporation, the nation's largest outpatient surgery center company. He was elected Chairman of the Nashville Predators in March 2010.
Cigarran serves as chairman of the Alignment Nashville Operating Board, the Haiti Mission Education Committee and the advisory board of the Vanderbilt Owen School Healthcare MBA program. He also serves as a member of the boards of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the Nashville Alliance for Public Education, the Nashville Health Care Council and Harpeth Hall School.
He has been an active supporter of public education in Nashville for more than 15 years. He currently serves as Chairman of the operating board of Alignment Nashville, an organization that helps organize the activities of more than 150 Nashville area non-profit organizations, the business community and governmental agencies in support of public education and children's health. He also serves as the Chairman of the Cathedral Parish Haiti Education Mission.
In the past he has served as the Education Chairman of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, chaired the advisory board of Vanderbilt's Owen School's Healthcare MBA Program, served on the boards of the Harpeth Hall School, Alive Hospice and the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee. He is the immediate past Chair of the Nashville Health Care Council.
Mr. Cigarran received a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University and an MBA from the New York University Sloan Graduate School of Business. He and his wife, Connie, are 33 year residents of Nashville, have two children and four grandchildren. The whole family enjoys hockey.
