Thomas G. Cigarran
Chairman and Governor
Tom Cigarran is a co-founder, former Chairman, CEO and Director of Healthways, Inc. He is also a co-founder and former Chairman, CEO and a current Director of AmSurg Corporation, the nation's largest outpatient surgery center company. He was elected Chairman of the Nashville Predators in March 2010.
He has been an active supporter of public education in Nashville for more than 15 years. He has served as the Education Chairman of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and was a founder and Chairman of the Operating Board of Alignment Nashville, an organization that helps organize the activities of more than 150 Nashville area non-profit organizations, the business community and governmental agencies in support of public education and children's health. He also serves as the Chairman of the Cathedral Parish Haiti Education Mission. He has chaired the advisory board of Vanderbilt's Owen School's Healthcare MBA Program, served on the boards of the Harpeth Hall School, Alive Hospice and the Mental Health Association of Middle Tennessee. He has also served as Chair of the Nashville Health Care Council.
Mr. Cigarran received a Bachelor of Science degree from Villanova University and an MBA from the New York University Sloan Graduate School of Business. He and his wife, Connie, are 35 year residents of Nashville, have two children and five grandchildren. The whole family loves hockey.
