Tennessee Amateur and Youth Hockey Team Spotlight

Nashvillepredators.com is looking to spotlight some of the worthy teams that make up the Tennessee amateur and youth hockey scene. January 2010: Southern Flyers Squirt B Travel Team

Nashville’s Southern Flyers Squirt B Travel Team Sweeps All 5 Silver Stick Southern Regional Games, Wins Championship in 3-0 Shutout!

On December 5-7, 2009, at the Silver Stick Southern Regional Tournament in at the Ice Complex in Huntsville, Alabama, Nashville’s Southern Flyers Squirt B Travel Team swept all 5 games to win the Championship, beating the Atlanta Knights, Pelham Panthers, Kennesaw Junior Thrashers, and Houston Hitmen. In the Championship game, the Flyers shutout Pelham 3-0 to win it all! This Nashville travel team of 8-10 year olds outscored the opposition 21 to 9, achieving a goals against average of 1.80! Additionally, Goaltender Garrett Bennett, won the Bob O'Gorman Most Valuable Goalie Award for the Tournament. As Regional Champions, the Flyers advanced to the Silver Stick International Finals in Pelham, Ontario, Canada, January 7-10, 2010, one of the oldest youth hockey tournaments in North America. The Flyers are currently also in 1st place in their division of the Southern Youth Travel Hockey League with a record of 16-1-2 and play at Centennial Sportsplex as a part of the Nashville Youth Hockey League.
