During the 2012-13 hockey season, the Nashville Predators Hockey Rules program presented by UnitedHealthcare educated area youth by providing free hockey clinics. This academic year, the Youth Marketing and Fan Development team visited 38 Elementary and Middle schools throughout Davidson, Williamson, Sumner and Rutherford counties, reaching over 5,000 students. This program educates 1st-6th grade students on the fundaments of Preds hockey and basic hockey skills. It introduces youth to pieces of hockey equipment, provides an opportunity to learn elements of street hockey activities, and teaches Preds history as well as current information about their hometown hockey club.
Now that the season is winding down, the Preds are taking hockey from the ice to the streets. This summer, the Hockey Rules Summerfest Tour presented by UnitedHealthcare will be out in the community to provide an interactive experience once more. Not only will it promote hockey fundamentals such as stick handling, shooting, passing, and teamwork – but it also promotes the importance of physical fitness and active living.
Annually, the Hockey Rules Summerfest Tour exposes hockey to day camps in the Middle Tennessee area from May to August. The Preds provide this program at no charge and encourage interested day camps to click on the provided link above or call (615) 770-2371.
