The Predators opened the 2000-01 season with a two-game series against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Saitama Super Arena outside of Tokyo, Japan. Both games finished with a score of 3-1, with the Predators winning the first and the Penguins the second. The two games drew the two largest crowds ever to witness hockey in Japan (13,849 for the first game, 13,426 for the second). |

Cliff Ronning scored the game-winning goal 1:51 into overtime in Nashville's 2-1 win over Detroit, the Predators' first-ever at Joe Louis Arena. |
| November 26, 2000 |
The Predators scored a team-record seven goals in a 7-4 win at Carolina. |
| December 23, 2000 |
Predators center David Legwand recorded the first overtime penalty shot goal in NHL history in a 3-2 Predators win at Madison Square Garden. The goal, which came 3:17 into overtime, was scored against Rangers goalie Kirk McLean. |

Scott Walker notched the Predators' first-ever hat trick at the Gaylord Entertainment Center and the first of his career in Nashville's 5-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche. |
| January 19, 2001 |
The Predators record their first-ever overtime victory at home when Cale Hulse scored at 1:24 of the extra session in a 1-0 win over the Boston Bruins. Mike Dunham stopped 35 shots in the shutout. |
| February 1, 2001 |
The Predators overcame a three-goal deficit to defeat the Los Angeles Kings, 6-4, at the Staples Center. The comeback was the largest in Predators history. |
| March 22, 2001 |
Mark Eaton scored at 1:54 of overtime to give the Predators a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. The victory was the 18th road win of the season for Nashville - a franchise record. The Predators finished the season with a .500 record (18-18-2-3) on the road for the first time. Tomas Vokoun stopped a penalty shot in the win, marking his second consecutive start in which he faced penalty shot. |

David Legwand scores the game-winner 36 seconds into overtime, capping Nashville's 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Phoenix Coyotes in front of a capacity crowd at the Gaylord Entertainment Center. |

Mike Dunham stopped 33 shots as the Predators shut out the Calgary Flames in their final home game of the 2000-01 season. The victory was Nashville's 34th of the season, giving them 80 points in 2000-01, the most in franchise history. |
