Katy, our adopted border collie mix, is an integral part of our family and community. She is incredibly smart, loving, and wants to play with every dog in the neighborhood. If you are ever walking along Oakland Avenue in Belmont, Katy will be sitting on our porch or along the front path in hopes of a pat or two. Katy is also a very active participant alongside her family in raising money for the Brown Dog Foundation that helps families and their pets in need when a family is struggling because of unexpected financial crisis and their pet becomes sick. Katy also loves to run for charity and was photographed running the last leg of this year’s East Nashville’s Tomato Arts Festival 5K in the Tennessean. Almost every day, you'll hear one of the Malhams say "I love that dog!”
Runner-Ups:
Muggsy • Beagle/Rottweiler Mix • Nashville
Hi guys, I'm Muggsy! I recently moved from North Carolina, but after watching the Preds dismantle the Hurricanes tonight, I know who my new favorite team is. You guard your house just like I guard mine against all sorts of dangers, such as Coyotes, Mighty Ducks, and Penguins. From my Rottweiler heritage, I have the strength to overcome Panthers and Devils, and get cunning from my beagle side to outsmart Canucks and Oilers. I'm single, but I enjoy long walks in the park, licking the felt off tennis balls, and curling up on the couch with a good dog treat.
I should be the Predators Dog of the Month because I represent every dog, especially those of us rescued from animal shelters after a rough start to life. I believe in making friends with all creatures, even prehistoric wild cats, and if you make me your dog of the month, I will be as loyal to you as I am to my favorite yellow and orange tennis ball. Thanks for listening to my story and I hope to see you around the dog park. Go Preds! Muggsy Mueller-Owen.
Dolce • American Bulldog • Nashville
I was able to rescue Dolce through an adoption agency down in Atlanta last March. Despite her intimidating looks, and often being mistaken for a "pitbull", she is the sweetest dog I have ever been around. Dolce is deaf, which causes her to constantly be near you/touching you. She does EXCELLENT with children. Everyone that meets her, immediately falls in love with her sweet and gentle nature. She should win Dog of the Month to help give these misunderstood dogs a better public image.
