Bridgestone Arena\'s David Kells Nominated by IEBA as Venue Executive of the Year
Nashville Tenn. (August 19, 2014) – Bridgestone Arena Vice President of Booking David Kells was recently announced as a finalist for the International Entertainment Buyers Association (IEBA)’s Venue Executive of the Year award.

The IEBA is the leading non-profit trade organization for live entertainment industry professionals, and works to help members improve relationships and increase revenue through offering its members networking and education opportunities. The Association will hold its 44th annual conference at the Omni Nashville from Sept. 27-30, with the Honors and Awards Ceremony taking place on the evening of Sept. 30.

This is Kells’ second Executive of the Year nomination in the last nine months; in November he was nominated for Pollstar’s Facility Executive of the Year award. Kells, who has been with Bridgestone Arena and the Nashville Predators since 2005, served as the Conversion Manager, Event Manager and Director of Marketing before assuming his current position.

“We are incredibly proud of David Kells, who has built unique partnerships with tours, agents, managers and promoters through his tireless work ethic and innovative strategies, bringing a successfulness to Bridgestone Arena in a way unmatched by any previous tenure,” Bridgestone Arena President and COO Sean Henry said. “He is an invaluable member of our team, and each time we are recognized by our peers, individually or as an organization, we close in on our ultimate goal of becoming the Number One venue in the country.”

Kells’ two nominations are added accolades on a successful season for Bridgestone Arena. Most recently, the arena was named the Academy of Country Music’s Large Capacity Venue of the Year and last fall took home its seventh consecutive nomination for Pollstar Concert Industry Arena of the Year. In 2013, Bridgestone Arena ranked sixth among all U.S. venues in ticket sales.

Serving as the home for numerous national and international events, Bridgestone Arena has the distinction of being one of the busiest venues in the Unites States over the past decade and a half. Also among the Arena’s accolades is a sixth place spot on Rolling Stone’s “Venues that Rock: The Best Arenas and Stadiums in America” list and a spot at No. 38 on ESPN’s “2013 Ultimate Standings,” a culmination of rankings that ranks Bridgestone Arena No. 13 in “stadium experience” and No. 12 in “affordability."

On Jan. 9, Bridgestone Arena opened the Nissan SoBro entrance at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Demonbreun, an entrance that unites the arena with the Music City Center and the new businesses south of Broadway. The new entrance is just one of several renovations taking place in an effort to continue to improve patrons’ experience at Bridgestone Arena. Additional renovations include the installation of a new HVAC system, new carpet in several levels and exterior LED boards and the opening of Tavern ’96, Bridgestone Arena’s first full-time restaurant located by the Arena’s new south entrance that features 16 draft beer options, more than 45 bottled varieties and food.
