Nashville Predators, Hylant Present Check to Nashville Zoo

The Nashville Predators success on the ice translated into a gift off of it on Aug. 18, as the Nashville Predators Foundation, in conjunction with The Hylant Group, presented a check to the Nashville Zoo for a total of $3,800.

The gift, presented in the Kangaroo Kickabout section of the zoo, was made possible in part by the Cromwell Radio group and former Predators Head Coach Barry Trotz’s radio program, ‘Coffee with the Coach,’ broadcasted on 102.5 The Game, the Predators flagship radio partner.

With each Preds victory in 2013-14, The Hylant Group agreed to donate $100 to the organization of Trotz’s choice, with Trotz designating the zoo to receive a donation. The team’s 38 wins determined the check’s final amount.

“We truly believe in giving back to the community in everything we do,” The Hylant Group President Kim Riley said. “We didn’t want to just sponsor (Coffee with the Coach), but wondered, ‘how can we encourage the team to win and allow us give something in return to the community if they win?’”

“It is a wonderful thing that we can do when we have people who are generous, like The Hylant Group, to come make a presentation like this,” Development Director of the Nashville Zoo Beverly Revo said. “We’re thankful to them and the Preds organization, both to what they’ve done here today and to share a little bit of who we are and what we do.”

The Predators organization was also pleased to be able to give back in such a manner, providing the zoo with not only monetary support, but continuing a partnership that grows with each passing season.

“It’s always fun when you can take someone so generous like The Hylant Group, combine them with the excitement of our games and our wins, and then channel that money back into such wonderful organizations like Nashville Zoo,” Predators President and Chief Operating Officer Sean Henry said. “It’s a true treasure and it really shows what we can do when we connect with the right partnership.”

Henry, whose favorite animal happens to be the kangaroo, believes that the partnership with one of Nashville’s favorite attractions is one that also benefits the youth of middle Tennessee.

“When you look at a zoo and the educational experience for every kid… just walking through changes kids’ lives and their appreciation and understanding of the world as a whole,” Henry said. “The fact that we can play a small part in helping develop that and keeping it thriving is just tremendous.”

“It is an amazing partnership that we would come together as two of the biggest paid attractions in middle Tennessee,” Revo said of the zoo’s relationship with the Preds. “We have a heart for the community and we thank them for their generosity and their willingness to partner with us. Nashville is definitely a better city because of partnerships like this.”
