Get Back on the Ice Before Summer Ends

Whether you’re looking to brush up on your hockey skills or just escape Nashville’s summer heat, the Preds Youth Hockey and Fan Development department (follow them on Twitter at @PredsYouthhcky) has something to fit your needs during the month of August. From new locations for the popular Get Out and Learn! (G.O.A.L! clinic) to adult Pucks and Pints Happy Hour Open Hockey, fans young and old can find a way to get on the ice this month. For more information, click here.

FORD ICE CENTER PRESEASON CONDITIONING SKATES - August 6, 8, 9

The new Ford Ice Center has partnered with Bridgestone Arena to get youth to high school players and everyone in between back on the ice through one of three preseason skates being held at Bridgestone Arena. As summer comes to a close, these preseason conditioning skates are a great way to get back on the ice and prepped for the upcoming season. Advanced registration is recommended and participants must provide his or her own equipment. The cost is $40 per person and includes 90 minutes of ice time, parking and a ticket to a Preds preseason game. 

RISE AND GRIND MORNING HOCKEY –August 6, 22, 27

A favorite way for many to get in their daily workout before work, Bridgestone Arena continues to host early morning weekday ice for adult open hockey. Sessions run from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and are open to the first 26 skaters and four goalies, of all skill levels, over the age of 18. Advanced registration is recommended and participants must provide his or her own equipment. The cost is $15 per person ($5 per goalie) and includes 60 minutes of ice time, parking and breakfast. HIGH SCHOOL SKILL DEVELOPMENT SERIES – August 6, 10, 17, 20, 27, 31 (Sept. 10 & 17)

The Preds have partnered with the Greater Nashville Scholastic Hockey League (GNASH) to offer high school-aged players and goaltenders the opportunity to brush up on their skills and learn from local high school coaches and special guests during eight sessions of skill development. The eight sessions, held at Bridgestone Arena, are $150 per participant and include instruction, parking and two tickets to an upcoming Predators home game. PUCKS AND PINTS HAPPY HOUR OPEN HOCKEY – August 8, 10, 21

A great way to get on the ice after a day at the office, Pucks and Pints Happy Hour Open Hockey sessions at Bridgestone Arena are open to all levels and is ages 21 and over. Participants must register in advance, as space is limited, and provide their own equipment. Registration is $15 per session ($5 per goalie) and includes 60 minutes of ice time and a complimentary “pint” at Tavern ’96 following the session. GET OUT AND LEARN! (G.O.A.L!) presented by Erie Insurance – August 8, 15, 22, 29

The Preds popular try-hockey-for-free beginner program returns to Nashville. G.O.A.L! is designed for boys and girls ages 5 to 8 with no prior hockey or skating experience and equipment is provided at no cost. The first of the two summer sessions, the August session will take place at Centennial Sportsplex. In September (4, 11, 18, 25), G.O.A.L! will take place at the new Ford Ice Center in Antioch, Tennessee for the first time. Space is limited and advance registration in required for both segments. ADULT DEVELOPMENT CLINIC – August 10

Adult novice and intermediate hockey players and goalies are invited to participate in skill development clinic at Bridgestone Arena that features qualified instructors such as Predators Alumnus and broadcast personality Stu Grimson, Strength and Conditioning Coach David Good, Ford Ice Center Hockey Director Craig MacDonald and more. The clinic, which will run from 2-4:15 p.m., will be geared toward adults ages 21 and over who play hockey recreationally after picking up the sport as an adult. In addition to supplying his or her own equipment, the cost is $50 per person and includes 90 minutes of on-ice instruction, a tour of the Predators locker room, two tickets to a 2014-15 Preds home game and a complimentary pint at Tavern ’96. NASHVILLE PREDATORS BROOMBALL LEAGUE – August 15, 19, 26 (September 2)

Maybe you love hockey but aren’t quite ready to get on the ice wearing a pair of skates just yet? The Nashville Predators Broomball League is the perfect program for you. Through four weeks (12 games) of intense broomball competition, teams compete for the ultimate prize, a premium experience at an upcoming Nashville Predators home game. The Nashville Predators Broomball League is a recreational league open to adults of all skill levels, the cost per team (10 players) is $400, and up to 10 additional players may be added for $20 each. To register as an individual and be placed on a team, the cost is $45. In addition to 12 games, participants will receive free parking and a free Nashville Predators preseason ticket voucher. BRIDGESTONE ARENA ICE FOR RENT – Open dates in August

The ice at Bridgestone Arena is available to rent for a special summer rate of $275 per hour (fee is waived with a group ticket purchase of 25 or more). Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis and participants must supply their own equipment, including skates. Fans can also rent Bridgestone Arena ice for personal broomball games. Adults and kids over the age of 15 can take advantage of a special summer rate of $275 per hour that includes an hour of ice time and broomball equipment.
