Nashville Predators and Scott Hamilton Skating Academy Name Bill Fauver Skating Director
Nashville, Tenn. – The Nashville Predators and the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy announced today the hiring of Bill Fauver as skating director at the new Ford Ice Center in Antioch, Tenn.
Fauver, an experienced pairs skater, is a National Sports Festival Champion, a four-time National Silver Medalist, a five-time World Team member and a two-time Olympian, competing in both the 1976 and 1984 Olympic Games. After retiring from competition at the international level, Fauver was a regular performer for skating shows such as Stars on Ice, Champions on Ice, Scott Hamilton’s America Tour and more.
“The opportunity to bring Bill’s knowledge and experience in the sport of figure skating to both the Ford Ice Center and the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy is a tremendous one,” Predators Executive Vice President Chris Parker said. “His experience in the sport is truly an asset, one that will help bring more people into both recreational/figure skating and help them reach their goals and potential.”
In his role, Fauver will manage all skating programs and assist Scott Hamilton in the building of learn-to-skate and figure skating curriculums and facilitate skating competitions. Fauver, a Ford Ice Center employee, will work alongside Hockey Director Craig MacDonald to develop both children and adults into better skaters, but also fostering a lifelong love for the sport, no matter the level.
“It’s a great pleasure to welcome Bill on board as the new Skating Director,” Scott Hamilton said. “I have counted Bill as a good friend and colleague for many years, and his experience as both a performer and as a manager will be an incredible asset to the Ford Ice Center staff. I’m looking forward to working with Bill in pursuing our goal to elevate the sport’s standing in Middle Tennessee.”
In addition to his extensive performance resume, Fauver, a Professional Skaters Association Master Rated, Level V Coach, has taught competitive skaters since 1988. Past coaching and teaching positions include stops at the University of Delaware’s Ice Science Development Center, Broadmoor World Ice Arena, the Indiana World Skating Academy and A-Game Sportsplex.
Combining his skating knowledge with his management skills and production experience, Fauver has directed several regional and national level competitions. Fauver has been an integral part of teams that have taken events such as the 1997 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, held in Nashville, Tennessee, from bid presentation all the way through to management, budgets and event wrap up.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, and graduate of Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, Fauver moved to the Nashville area in 1993 and has been an active part of the Nashville Figure Skating Club ever since. Fauver is the President of Avanta Skating Boots, based in Franklin, Tennessee, that is “dedicated to understanding each customer’s technical and anatomical needs and preferences.”
