Laviolette and Hamilton Slated to Make Music City Sports Festival Appearances

At 102.5 The Game’s Music City Sports Festival on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1, fans are invited to join the Nashville Predators in welcoming two of the newest members of the organization, Head Coach Peter Laviolette and Scott Hamilton of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy at Ford Ice Center.

Saturday, May 31

11:50 a.m.           Scott Hamilton appearance as part of the Speaker Series, co-hosted by Predators alum/broadcaster Stu Grimson.

Hamilton, a native of Franklin, Tennessee, and Preds season-ticket holder for the past eight seasons, claimed Gold at the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics and won four consecutive World and U.S. Figure Skating Championships from 1981-84. He was inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame in 1990 and from 1986-2001 performed and co-produced Stars on Ice, America’s premier figure skating tour, which he helped found.

In early April, the Predators and Hamilton announced the formation of the Scott Hamilton Figure Skating Academy at Ford Ice Center. Hamilton will serve as active principal in the Academy, charged with helping develop the curriculum and hire a skating director for the facility.

Sunday, June 1

12:15 p.m.           Peter Laviolette appearance as part of the Speaker Series, co-hosted by Predators play-by-play broadcaster Pete Weber.

Laviolette is making his first appearance in Music City since being named head coach of the Nashville Predators on May 6. The second head coach in Predators franchise history, Laviolette has worked as an NHL coach for parts of 12 seasons, including coaching the 2006 Carolina Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup Championship.

He recently returned from Minsk, Belarus, where he was serving as head coach of Team USA at the 2014 IIHF World Championship. In Belarus, Laviolette worked behind the bench with current Preds Assistant Coach Phil Housley and Video Coach Lawrence Feloney, and coached the United States, featuring Preds Craig Smith and Seth Jones, to a quarterfinal appearance.

Predators season-ticket holders are invited to attend Sunday’s appearance by Laviolette for free by showing their Smashville Passport at the door. Season-ticket holders will be given preferred seating on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In addition to appearances by Laviolette and Hamilton, the Predators Youth Hockey Department will host a youth street hockey clinic on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The clinic does not require any advanced registration and will feature Grimson and additional Preds alumni.

102.5 The Game’s Music City Sports Festival is in its second year at Nashville’s Music City Center. This interactive event includes a speaker series, pro-teams, college row, activities for children and much more. Admission for ages six and up is $5.00 for a one-day pass and $8.00 for both days, and may be purchased online or at the door.
