Nashville Predators Acquire Jaynen Rissling From Washington
Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Jaynen Rissling from the Washington Capitals in exchange for Nashville’s seventh-round selection in the 2014 Entry Draft.
Rissling, 20 (9/21/93), recently completed his fifth season with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League, posting 37 points (8g-29a) and 105 penalty minutes in 54 games while serving as team captain. In 273 WHL games from 2009-14, the 6-4, 204-pound native of Edmonton, Alta., amassed 117 points (23g-94a) and 465 penalty minutes, helping the Hitmen claim the WHL title and participate in the Memorial Cup in 2010.
Washington’s ninth choice, 197th overall (seventh round) in the 2012 Entry Draft, Rissling becomes the second member of the Capitals 2012 draft class to be acquired by the Predators, joining Filip Forsberg (11th overall, first round).
