Nashville Predators Sign 2009 Second Round Pick Zach Budish

Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed 2009 second-round pick Zach Budish (ZAK BOO-dihsh) to a two-year entry-level contract. The 6-3, 219-pound right wing will join Nashville’s primary developmental affiliate – the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals – for the duration of the season on an amateur tryout agreement.

Budish, 21 (5/9/91), amassed 94 points (35g-59a) in 129 games during four seasons at the University of Minnesota, helping the school earn three trips to the NCAA Tournament and advance to the 2012 Frozen Four. As captain of the Golden Gophers in 2012-13, the Edina, Minn., native tied for 11th in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and fourth on the team in points with 36 (14g-22a) in 40 games.

Nashville's second choice, 41st overall (second round), in the 2009 Entry Draft, Budish was the recipient of the 2013 WCHA Scholar Athlete Award, and was a three-time WCHA All-Academic Team selection.
