-- Petey's Preds Party, Celeb Golf Classic Lead To Record Setting Nights --

The Nashville Predators Foundation and the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s hosted the second annual First Tennessee Nashville Predators/Brent Peterson Celebrity Golf Classic this past Monday and Tuesday.

The event kicked off on Monday evening at Bridgestone Arena with Petey’s Preds Party. The cocktail reception and dinner saw record attendance for the second consecutive year, as more than 1,100 guests came out to support these wonderful causes. The evening was highlighted by an appearance from comedic hypnotist Rich Guzzi and a world-class auction featuring one-of-a-kind experiences and premier autographed memorabilia from around the sports and entertainment industry. The event broke yet another record as it raised more than $150,000 for the Nashville Predators Foundation and the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s. The 2012 edition of Petey’s Preds Party closed with a four-song performance from singer/song-writer and Nashville-native, Phil Vassar.

“It was once again a tremendous event and a testament to how supportive our fan base is of not only the team, but of Coach Brent Peterson and his foundation” Predators Executive Vice President Chris Parker said. “The crowd was amazing, Brent was inspiring as always and we look forward to growing this partnership in the future.”

The party continued the next morning, as more than 250 golfers teed off at at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin. While the weather was a factor early in the day, things cleared up prior to the afternoon flight and all golfers completed their rounds prior to sunset. All foursomes were paired with a celebrity golfer, including such names as Vince Gill, former NBA star Brian Grant and local news anchor, Bob Mueller. The NHL community was also well represented with appearances from NHL on NBC analyst Pierre McGuire and TSN commentator, Gord Miller.

“It was a terrific and very successful event,” Brent Peterson said. “We thought we would have some problems with the weather at first, but every golfer got out, had a great time and got their rounds in. We had a record-setting night last night and I hope it is as successful in years to come”

From Day One of the franchise through the end of the 2010-11 season, Brent Peterson provided a unwavering presence behind the Nashville Predators bench. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s nearly a decade ago, the veteran of 620 NHL games played and more than 1000 NHL games coached stepped down from his Associate Coaching position in May 2011 due to advancement of the disease. Recently, Peterson brought his battle with Parkinson’s into the public eye – including in-depth coverage of his Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery (DBS) – in an effort to create awareness and to cultivate support for the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson’s.

The Nashville Predators Foundation strives to meet the educational, social, health and cultural needs of the community by offering unique resources and financial support to local youth-oriented organizations. The Foundation has awarded more than $3 million since its establishment in 1998. The Nashville Predators have recognized that they play an important role in the community beyond what takes place on the ice. Despite the economic challenges that impacted many businesses and individuals, the Predators Foundation enjoyed its most successful season to date in 2011-12, as it awarded the largest grant total in the organization’s history.
