Nashville Predators Launch Inaugural G.O.A.L! Inline Program

-Free learn-to-play inline hockey program kicks off with July 10 registration-

Nashville, Tenn. (July 1, 2012) – Building on the success of the Nashville Predators free Get Out And Learn! beginner ice hockey program, the Preds have partnered with Hendersonville Inline Hockey Association (HIHA) to offer Get Out And Learn! Inline this July.

The session will feature four nights of instruction on July 24, 27, 31 and August 3 from 7:15-8:15 p.m. at the inline rinks located at Veteran’s Park in Hendersonville. Registration begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at nashvillepredators.com/goal. Space is limited to 80 participants.

“Since the Nashville Predators came to town in1998, the number of kids interested in hockey has increased year over year,” Director of Youth Hockey and Fan Development Andee Boiman said. “The G.O.A.L! ice hockey program is one of our most popular programs and developing a beginner inline hockey program was a logical and important step in our youth hockey outreach. The inline hockey community has seen how ice hockey programs have grown by leaps and bounds since the inception of G.O.A.L! and look forward to their community growing in the same fashion. G.O.A.L! inline is another exciting way the Preds are reaching out to their young fans and bringing awareness to the game of hockey.”

G.O.A.L! is designed to give boys and girls the opportunity to try inline hockey for free. Eligible participants will be ages 5 to 8 with no prior inline skating or inline hockey experience. Hockey equipment will be provided at no cost, but participants will need to provide their own inline skates – rentals will not be provided. To purchase inline skates, visiting a sporting goods store near you.

The Nashville Predators are dedicated to supporting youth hockey at all levels and recognize the need for local skating facilities to be accessible for beginners to help to grow the sport. The Nashville Predators’ G.O.A.L! program is offered multiple times throughout the year. Since 2006, more than 2,000 families have graduated from the G.O.A.L! ice hockey program. The goal of HIHA is to promote the sport of inline hockey and increase the awareness of inline hockey in the community; to broaden the base of players, coaches and officials; and to facilitate and enhance education and skill development for players, coaches and officials. Teams play on two full size rinks with sport court flooring, all new in 2010.
