Salomaki\'s 4 Point Night Leads Finland Into Round 2
Miikka Salomaki, a second round pick by the Nashville Predators in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, scored four points on two goals and two assists to help pace Team Finland to a 10-1 win over Denmark and secure a spot in the Playoff Round.

Salomaki scored the game's opening goal at 8:36 of the first period and then assisted on the game's second goal 1:49 later. Finland closed out the first period with a 3-0 lead, but after Denmark made the score to 4-1 midway through the second period, Salomaki struck again with his second goal of the game and then followed that up with his second assist of the game, the primary helper, on Joel Armia's goal 1:37 into the third period to push Finland's lead up to 6-1. Teemu Pulkkinen scored the game's final four goals to provide the large margin of victory. For his efforts, Salomaki was named the player of the game.

In other Preds prospect action, Austin Watson and Team USA dropped a 5-2 decision to Czech Republic. The loss eliminated the U.S. from Playoff Round contention. The Americans out-shot the Czechs 54-29 and held leads of 1-0 and 2-1, but the Czech Republic scored three goals in a 6:08 span of the third period to claim the lead.

Team USA closes out Preliminary Round play tomorrow against Team Canada, while Finland finishes up tomorrow with Czech Republic. Canada, Czech Republic, and Finland will all advance to the Playoff Round. The US will move on the the Relegation Round.
