It’s bold and something to behold.

It is Predators Gold.

The Story Behind Preds Gold
The color has swept over Smashville since the start of the 2011-12 NHL season. Bridgestone Arena has been awash with the striking color, the new jerseys have an added uniqueness, and fans have rushed out to be a part of the Predators Gold movement.

“The new gold jerseys have been a huge hit with our fans and across the league,” Predators Executive Vice President Chris Parker said. “The boldness and uniqueness of the color sets us apart from every other NHL team. It pops on television and in person. When you see fans dressed in Predators Gold in Bridgestone Arena, or when you see them at away games, you instantly know who the Predators fans are.”

Fans adorned in Predators Gold are beginning to take over Bridgestone Arena. The color is also being seen at off-site events, like at O’Charley’s locations in Middle Tennessee where the official away-game viewing headquarters are held.

At Bridgestone Arena, Predators Gold has been splashed throughout the concourses, on signs and in dozens of other areas. While many NHL arenas have a cookie-cutter feel with basic colors, Bridgestone Arena has set itself apart. When you walk in to watch a Predators game, there is no question where you are.

Predators season ticket holders have quickly embraced the new color.

   “I absolutely love the gold jerseys,” Laura Turner said. “I can’t wait to see all the gold in the arena. Go Preds!”

  “I love the change to gold,” Scott Grissom said. “We are the only team in the league with that as our primary color. And the road whites are perfection.”

  “When I first saw the pictures of the new jersey, I wasn’t at all impressed,” Brandy Rose said. “However, when I first got to see it in person, I instantly fell in love. I plan on purchasing one soon.”

The Predators Pro Shop inside Bridgestone Arena has reported strong sales of all Predators Gold-related products and has been forced to restock quicker than anticipated. There are still plenty of items available at the Pro Shop, including jerseys, hats, shirts, hooded sweatshirts and jackets.

The response on social media has also been positive on the local, regional and national levels.

Greg Wyshynski, editor of the Puck Daddy blog on Yahoo! Sports, has more than 40,000 followers on his Twitter account. During Nashville’s game against New Jersey on Saturday, Oct. 15, he wrote: “The Predators home sweaters are such a nice change from the red/blue/black monotony around the league.”
