Video: Preds Team With PALA

The Nashville Predators have partnered with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition to encourage Preds fans to be physically active and develop healthy habits by taking part in the Million PALA Challenge.

Now through September 2011, the Preds are working to help the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition get 1 million Americans to enroll and complete the PALA (President’s Active Lifestyle Award) Challenge. This project is a continuation of the First Lady Michele Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative, launched earlier this season in collaboration with the National Hockey League and USA Hockey to encourage American children to lead active and healthy lives.

Preds fans can complete the initiative by being physically active for 60 minutes per day for youngsters (ages 6-17) and 30 minutes per day for adults (over 18 years) for five days per week for a period of six out of eight weeks. Participants can log their activities and compare their progress by registering online at www.presidentschallenge.org/NHL_PREDATORS. Click "Create Account" to join the Preds team and begin tracking your activity.

Join the Preds team in the PALA Challenge by July 19 and receive two free tickets to a 2011 Preds preseason game. Those who successfully complete the PALA Challenge by Sept. 13 will receive a commemorative certificate recognizing their participation in the PALA Challenge and be automatically entered to win a pair of tickets to the Preds home opener.

The Preds are hoping to use this initiative as a way to introduce the sport of hockey to their young fans, showing them hockey is just one of many ways to have fun while staying physically active.
