Nashville, Tenn. (March 11, 2011) – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has reassigned defenseman Teemu Laakso (TEE-moo LAK-soh) to Milwaukee (AHL). Laakso was recalled under emergency conditions, and had to be returned when the six current defensemen on the Nashville roster dressed for Thursday’s game.

Laakso, 23 (8/27/87), did not appear in the Predators lineup during his one-day recall. He returns to the Admirals where he has 22 points (3g-19a) in 58 games, in addition to ranking among the defensive league leaders in plus/minus rating (+16).

Following a 4-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild last night, led by Pekka Rinne’s sixth shutout of the year and a two-goal night by Nick Spaling, the Preds continue their March to the Playoffs with of 11 their 14 remaining 2010-11 games taking place on home ice. When the Preds hit the Bridgestone Arena ice this Saturday to take on the Colorado Avalanche, they will be showing their support for the National Hockey League’s Hockey Fights Cancer initiative with the second of two We Care for Kids benefit nights held this season – the first of which occurred this past October.
