This year's Preds Cup championship game will feature Brentwood vs 2010 defending Preds Cup champion Ravenwood. The Preds Cup title game will take place on Sunday evening after the Nashville Predators vs. Columbus Blue Jackets afternoon game.
Nashville, Tenn. (February 25, 2011) –
When the Nashville Predators arrived in Tennessee in 1998, there were no high school hockey leagues and less than eight teams statewide. This year, more than 25 high school teams from Knoxville, Memphis and greater Nashville competed in independent league play for seeding placement into the 11th Preds Cup Tennessee High School Hockey Championship.

The Greater Nashville Area Scholastic League (G.N.A.S.H.) will hold preliminary tournament semi-final games tonight at 6:40 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. at A-Game Sportsplex in Franklin. These games will determine the two teams competing in the Preds Cup Championship Game on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. at Bridgestone Arena following the Predators 2 p.m. matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Doors for the Preds Cup Championship Game open at 5:30.

Preds Cup is free to the public, and fans wanting to attend the Predators home game prior to Preds Cup may purchase discount tickets online at nashvillepredators.com/predscup2011 and enter special offer code “predscup.”

The 2011 Preds Cup Champion will qualify to represent Tennessee at the USA Hockey High School Varsity National Tournament, March 23-27, 2011 in Bensenville, Ill.

In addition to the Preds Cup Championship in Nashville on Feb. 27, a secondary, non-national bound Preds Cup Tournament – the Blue Division – will be held March 19-20, 2011 at Cool Sports in Knoxville, TN. The Preds Cup – Blue Division Tournament will feature high school teams invited from Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville.

The Preds Cup serves as a platform to highlight the top Tennessee high school hockey teams, as well as a community outreach initiative supported by the Predators. The Nashville Predators established the Preds Cup during the 1999-00 season as part of the team’s mission to increase the visibility of hockey on the amateur level in Tennessee. Since then, seven teams from greater Nashville and three teams from Memphis have won the Cup. In 2008, the Preds Cup had its first back-to-back champion in the JP II Knights.
