Ryan Ellis Named Team Canada Captain For World Junior Championships
Ryan Ellis, Nashville’s first choice (11th overall) in the 2009 Entry Draft, will serve as captain of Team Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championships, which start December 26 in Buffalo, N.Y.

Ellis is the 31st Canadian junior team captain since the start of Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence 1982, following in the footsteps of names such as Eric Lindros, Jarret Stoll, Scottie Upshall and Mike Richards. The 5-9, 179-pound offensive blueliner is only the seventh player since then to represent Canada at three world junior tournaments, joining Jay Bouwmeester (2000-02), Jason Spezza (2000-02), Jason Botterill (1995-97), Martin Lapointe (1991-93), Lindros (1990-92), and Trevor Kidd (1990-92).

Canada’s all-time top scoring defenseman at the IIHF World Junior Championship with 15 points in 12 games, Ellis earned a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior tournament and gold at the 2009 tourney.

Fellow Predators prospects Patrick Cehlin (Sweden) and David Elsner (Germany) are also participating in this year's World Junior Tournament.
