Admirals Open Season Next Saturday Night
Milwaukee, WI– The Milwaukee Admirals finished up pre-season play with a 3-1 win over the Chicago Wolves on Saturday night at the Kern Center on the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Defenseman Scott Ford paced the Admirals offense with a goal and an assist, while Chet Pickard earned the win with 21 saves. The games that count for the Ads start next Saturday when they host the Abbotsford Heat at the Bradley Center.

The only scoring of the first period game on a rebound goal by Ryan Thang with just 17 seconds left in the opening stanza. Jean Claude Sawyer took a shot from left point which Wolves netminder Drew MacIntyre stopped but the rebound sat in the slot and Thang jumped on it to give the Ads the lead.

The Admirals outshot the Wolves 12-3 in the first despite four straight minutes of power-play time for Chicago due to a Milwaukee high sticking penalty.

Milwaukee made it 2-0 at the 16:27 mark of the second period when Blake Geoffrion came down the left side of the ice and fired a wrister from just outside the face-off dot that beat MacIntyre short side.

Chicago halved the Admirals lead during a 5-on-3 power play. Former Admiral Darren Haydar was stationed on the right post when Mike Siklenka fired a shot from the left dot that Milwaukee goalie Chet Pickard got a piece of, but the puck trickled behind him and Haydar had an easy goal at 2:56.

Milwaukee pushed the lead back to two with a short-handed tally at 9:29 of the third. Ford fired a blast from the top of the right face-off circle that snuck its way through traffic and past Edward Pasquale, who replaced MacIntyre at the start of the third period.
