Scrimmage #2 is in the books. 7-1 win for Team Blue. Team Blue vs. Team White tomorrow for the unoffical camp title!

1:56 pm CT
Power-play/penalty shot chance for Team Blue. Latta with a nice deke move and slid the puck five-hole past Rinne. 7-1 Team Blue.

1:51 pm CT
Power-play/penalty shot chance for Team Silver. Patric Hornqvist missed high to the glove side, making the move against Smith. (goalies switched up again; missed when it happened. I think right after Watson's goal?)

1:49 pm CT
Nice goal by Austin Watson. Good play along the halfboards to move the play down to the corner. Then took the return feed from Mueller and moved the puck easily from skate to stick, snapped a quick shot, and followed his rebound for the tuck in goal.

1:40 pm CT
Another goal for Team Blue. David Legwand with a quick wrister high in the slot beating Jeremy Smith. Tootoo claiming he redirected it; regardless, good job by Tootoo creating the traffic in front. Tootoo's had a very effective scrimmage. He's used his speed to create chances in all three periods and been strong on the forecheck when he's had the opportunity.

Also of note, it's been fun to watch Shea Weber and Ryan Ellis patrol the blueline together for Team Blue. They've been in sync in their movements, moved the puck crisply, and been aggressive joining the play down low. It's just one scrimmage, but....

1:29 pm CT
Team Blue extends the lead to 4-1. Andreas Thuresson with the goal, a nice shot from the right wing, just below faceoff dot high. Maybe a little goalie interference on Pickard, so tough to count that one against him.

1:26 pm CT
And we’re through two periods. Still 3-1 Team Blue.

1:13 pm CT
Final goalie change of the second period. Smith moves down to Team Silver, Rinne enters for Team Blue, and Pickard gets a break.

1:09 pm CT
Big glove save by Pickard off a shot from Ward. Good transition rush by O’Reilly-Beck-Ward to create the chance. Those three have had a good start to this second period. Beck, actually, has been impressive in camp so far – strong showing in the two rookie games and a good start today.

1:08 pm CT
Goalie change. Rinne gets a rest; Pickard moves down to Team Silver and Smith enters for Team Blue. Team Blue has been controlling the play for most of this period.

1:02 pm CT
Power-play/Penalty shot for Beck. A couple of nice stick moves, but Rinne stayed with it and made a quality block.

12:58 pm CT
Team Blue comes right back and extends its lead. Two-on-one Beck and O’Reilly – nice return feed from Beck back to O’Reilly at the far post. No chance for Rinne.

12:57 pm CT
Team Blue takes the lead. Joel Ward with the goal. Charles-Oliver Roussel with a nice play to start the opportunity; a dangerous pass/shot from the point to the front of the net. Cal O’Reilly with the first chance, but a nice save by Rinne. O’Reilly continued with the play and was able to chip the puck to Ward for the easy conversion. Good hard work in front of the net by O’Reilly and Ward.

12:54 pm CT
Team Blue ties it with the between period shootout point. Rinne will start the second period in net for Team Silver; Pickard in net for Team Blue.

12:48 pm CT
End of the first period, 1-0 Silver.

12:41 pm CT
Strong move by Beck on the forecheck; stole the puck and got to the front of the net. Big save for Rinne to keep Team Silver in the lead. But still an impressive power-forward move by Beck to create the opportunity.

12:37 pm CT
1-0 Team Silver. Teemu Laakso with a quick wrister off of a Team Silver offensive zone faceoff win.

And on the goal we're getting our second goalie change of the scrimmage. Rinne enters for Team Silver, Smith goes down the ice to Team Blue, and Pickard gets his first rest of the scrimmage.

12:34 pm CT
Another good save by Pickard off a point shot from Kevin Klein with traffic in front. Nice start to scrimmage for Pickard.

12:27 pm CT
0-0, First Period. Goalie change; Smith enters for Team Silver, Pickard moves to Team Blue, and Rinne gets his first break of the day.

12:23 pm CT
A couple of good shifts in a row for Team Blue. Taylor Beck, Michael Latta, and Austin Watson looked strong as a trio. Followed with a great scoring chance for Jordin Tootoo; Pickard made a quality blocker save to keep the game scoreless

12:18 pm CT
And we're under way in today's scrimmage. Rinne starting in net for Team Blue; Pickard for Team Silver. Shea Weber (Blue) delivers the first big hit of the game -- on his first shift. Marcel Goc (Silver) get's the first quality scoring chance.

11:58 am CT

Guys are on the ice starting to warm up. First chance to see Team Blue play. Team Silver skated in yesterday's scrimmage; last chance for some of those players to make a lasting impression before the preseason schedule.

Looks like Pekka Rinne, Chet Pickard, and Jeremy Smith will split the goaltending duties today.
