8:37 pm CT
Added bonus as the Preds win the post-game shootout, 2-1. Austin Watson ('10 First Round pick) and Mark Santorelli ('07 Fourth Round pick) with the conversions for Nashville. John McFarland converted for Florida.

And it's a final. Nice 5-0 shutout for the Preds Rookies. Pickard and Lindback with the combined shutout. Pickard picks up the "W"; Ellis the game-winning goal. Multi-point nights for Ellis (one goal, one assist), Beck (two goals), and Geoffrion (one goal, two assists).

8:19 pm CT
5-0 with less than 5:00 left in regulation. Geoffrion with the goal, his third point of the night (one goal, two assists).

7:56 pm CT
And Nashville extends its lead to 4-0 early into the third period. Michael Latta ('09 Third Round pick) with the goal, redirecting a shot from defenseman Charles-Olivier Roussel ('09 Second Round pick). A lot of production from the 2009 Draft Class in tonight's game -- Beck, Ellis, Latta, Roussel all from that one draft.

7:32 pm CT
End of Period 2 -- still 3-0 Nashville.

7:18 pm CT
One other note, Blum, Ryan Thang, and Mark Santorelli are all wearing an "A" for the Preds Rookie squad tonight.

7:11 pm CT
Beck's second power-play goal of the game gives the Preds a 3-0 lead midway through the second period. Geoffrion picked up his second assist on the night, feeding Beck at the faceoff dot to the right Florida netminder Marc Cheverie. Beck burried the shot top corner. Camp invitee Chris Mueller, an AHL regular with Milwaukee last season, picked up the second assist on the goal.

Both teams are using the mid-period stoppage to switch up goalies. Anders Lindback will enter for the Preds; Brian Foster will take over for the Panthers. Strong start to the rookie series by Chet Pickard in net for Nashville.

6:41 pm CT
Good first period by the Preds rookies. A pair of early goals have the Preds up 2-0 at the first intermission. Defenseman Ryan Ellis ('09 First Round pick) opened the scoring with an unassisted tally. Taylor Beck ('09 Third Round pick) redirected an Ellis pass for a power-play tally moments later. Blake Geoffrion ('06 Second Round pick) had the other assist on Nashville's second goal.

First fight of the rookie series: Preds forward Ryan Flynn went toe-to-toe with Panthers forward Chris Clackson -- essentially a draw; Flynn got the knockdown, but got a little bloodied in the process. A little ironic that both Flynn and Clackson are NCAA products (Flynn played at Minnesota last year, Clackson at Western Michigan), seeing as fighting is banned in the college game?

5:45 pm CT
Starting Line-ups Announced
Nashville: Chet Pickard in goal; Jonathon Blum & Roman Josi on defense; Blake Geoffrion, Taylor Beck, & Linus Klasen at forward
Florida: Marc Cheverie in goal; Erik Gudbranson & Colby Robak on defense; AJ Jenks Evgeny Dadonov, & Scott Timmins (F) at forward

Blum and Josi were paired together during drills yesterday. That's an impressive, talented duo; could be foreshadowing of a NHL pairing with the Preds in the not-so-distant future? (Or at least an early look at a potential d-man pairing for the Milwaukee Admirals this season?) Geoffrion and Klasen were grouped together on a line yesterday, too -- Ryan Thang was their third (Beck didn't skate much yesterday).
