“As our young players are introduced to the Predators way during development camp, it is also important that they be introduced to the Predators way in relation to involvement in the community and obligation of being a professional athlete,” Predators Director of Community Relations Rebecca Ward said. “Our young players embraced these activities and have already made contributions to the community.”
Carole Bartoo of Vanderbilt University’s Monroe Carell Children’s Hospital said the patients were overjoyed for the visit. “The look of excitement on our patients’ faces is priceless when they are visited by members of the team. We love it. They come several times a year and every time the staff gets excited, parents get excited but especially the kids. It’s not the best time in their lives and to get a visit from a pro athlete is a big deal to them. The guys are remarkably good with the kids, even down to the 4 year olds. They joke around with them and get them to smile.”
Besides those that visited Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital, other groups visited patients at the VA Medical Center of Nashville, helped repair the Bellevue Inline Hockey Rink, and helped guests at Nashville Shores.
