Geoffrion Scores First Pro Goals
DEKANICH, GEOFFRION LEAD ADS TO WIN
Admirals Get First Win of Series, Game 4 Monday Night

Milwaukee, WI -- On the strength of four power play goals the Milwaukee Admirals blasted the Chicago Wolves 6-0 Saturday night at the Bradley Center. The victory is the Admirals first in this West Division Semifinal after dropping the first two in Chicago.

It was a game of firsts for the Admirals as Blake Geoffrion recorded his first two professional goals and Mark Dekanich turned away all 30 Chicago shots to pick up his first career playoff shutout.

Chris Mueller opened Milwaukee’s power play scoring barrage with 3:10 to play in the first period. Alexander Sulzer sent the puck to Andreas Thuresson at the far hashmark, who proceeded to find Mueller in the corner. The forward walked out into the slot and slid the puck 5-hole past Wolves net minder Peter Mannino.

Playing in his first home game as an Admiral, Geoffrion tallied to give the Admirals a two-goal lead just 24 seconds into the 2nd period. Marty Murray carried the puck into the Chicago zone and left a drop pass for Geoffrion. The 2010 Hobey Baker Award winner fired a wrist shot from just inside the blue line, beating Mannino top shelf for his first pro goal.

The Admirals second power play marker came with less than seven minutes to play in the 2nd frame, courtesy of Mike Santorelli. Standing at the top of the circles, Jon Blum ripped a snap shot off Mannino’s pads, leaving a rebound in the slot. Andreas Thresson second chance was denied, but Santorelli skated in from the far boards and put the loose puck in the back of the net.

Just three minutes later Sulzer registered a power play tally of his own. Teemu Laakso sent the puck to Santorelli who fired a cross-ice pass to Sulzer below the near circle. Sulzer didn’t hesitate to roof the puck, giving Milwaukee a 4-0 lead.

Geoffrion notched his second goal and the Admirals fourth power play tally of the game 4:15 into the final frame. Planted on the far side of the net, the forward dished the puck across the slot to Blum whose return pass was deflected by Ryan Thang right back to Geoffrion. He lifted the puck over an outstretched Drew MacIntyre who replaced Mannino to begin the period.

The Admirals struck one more time when Thruesson redirected a Blum slap shot to make them 6-0 winners.

Overall, Milwaukee went 4 for 9 on the power play after being held scoreless in four attempts in game 2. In addition, ten players found the scoresheet for the Admirals, five of whom had multiple point games.

The Admirals look to even the series on Monday night with game four set for 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center. Game five will be on Wednesday night at the All-State Arena.
