At Stake Tonight... (April 8)
Including tonight's action there are only four more days left in the 2009-10 NHL Regular Season. NashvillePredators.com looks at the Western Conference games scheduled for tonight, Thursday, April 8, with a synopsis of what's at stake for the Preds. Click here for more on the Conference Standings, Remaining Schedules, and Tie Breakers.

Feel free to post your thoughts and comments at the bottom of this article.

Phoenix at Los Angeles
What's At Stake: Both LA and Phoenix have already secured playoff spots, this game won't have any effect on that, but it will be a big game in determining first round match-ups. The Coyotes are already locked into the No. 4 seed, so not much at stake for Phoenix tonight. The Kings, however, enter the game seventh in the West, but can still finish anywhere from No. 5 to No. 8. A point tonight and Los Angeles would leapfrog both Nashville and Detroit to move into the No. 5 slot.
From the Preds View: This is a big game in determining where the Preds will end up seeded in the Western Conference. Los Angeles enters play tonight one point behind Nashville with two games at hand. An LA loss -- either in regulation or overtime/shootout -- helps Nashville's chances to remain ahead of the Kings in the final standings.

Vancouver at San Jose
What's At Stake: Both Vancouver and San Jose are playoff bound and both have clinched Division Titles and will have home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Vancouver is locked into the No. 3 seed in the West, so not much at stake here for the Canucks. San Jose enters play tonight tied with Chicago for the top spot in the Western Conference and both teams have two games remaining this season, so tonight's game carries high importance for the Sharks seeding.
From the Preds View: The Predators don't have an immediate stake in this game, but both Vancouver and San Jose could be potential first round opponents, so there is a passing interest in the play of both teams.

Anaheim at Dallas
What's At Stake: Both teams are eliminated from playoff contention, so not a lot at stake for either squad. This is the home finale for Dallas, so there's always team pride at stake in finales. Anaheim leads Dallas by two points in the standings, so the result tonight could have an impact on draft positioning for both squads.
From the Preds View: The Preds don't have an immediate stake in this game.

Minnesota at Calgary
What's At Stake: Both teams are eliminated from playoff contention, but neither team is locked into a position for draft seeding yet. This is the home finale for Calgary, so, again, there's team pride at stake there.
From the Preds View: The Preds don't have an immediate stake in this game.
