Preds Salute Hillsboro Women’s Basketball State Champs
For the second consecutive season the Nashville Predators and BlueCross BlueShield have created a program to recognize the achievements in amateur athletics in the greater Nashville area. During the 2009-10 season the BlueCross BlueShield Salute to State Champions program will recognize area high school athletic teams that earn a state title for their school. The selected teams will have their hard work and dedication acknowledged at a Predators game. (
The Nashville Predators would like to congratulate Head Coach Katrina Carter and the Hillsboro High School Women’s Basketball team as November’s Salute to State Champions team.

The Lady Burros had a 35-1 record last season and went on to win their school a state title in women’s basketball. Coach Carter attributes the hard work and desire of her girls to the success of the season. “A lot of people didn’t think we could get there. The kids worked extremely hard, they met the expectations the coaches had and then they wanted more. They went in there, gave it all they had, and came out victorious.”
While the team graduated three key girls from last year, the coaching staff along with the players hold the same expectations for the upcoming season.
“This season same goals. We still have the same expectations, we still expect our kids to work hard, and they are going to work hard. Not only do they work hard on the court but work hard in the classroom. So yes, we have the same expectations. We are going to get back there, we’re going to do what we can and we are going to have a fun year,” Carter stated.
Carter, the coaching staff and the Hillsboro High School’s Women’s Basketball team attended the Nov. 19th game vs. the New Jersey Devils where they were recognized for their achievements.
