Preds Welcome JCC to Street Pride
The Preds Street Pride program is one of the staples of the team’s Youth and Amateur hockey initiatives. An extension of the NHL’s league wide street hockey program, Preds Street Pride provides an athletic and educational program based around teaching children about the game of hockey.

On Monday, November 16, the Nashville Predators held a street hockey clinic at the Gordon Jewish Community Center in Nashville to drop the puck on a new partnership. More than 40 eager elementary to middle school aged kids participated in the free clinic put on the Preds Amateur & Youth Hockey Development staff along with special guest instructors Preds defenseman Alex Sulzer and forward Andreas Thuresson.

To get the night going, the kids were placed into two teams: Team Thuresson and Team Sulzer. Both teams ran through stickhandling, passing and shooting drills and then prepared for the much anticipated scrimmage. Parents cheered on from the sides as the kids put into action the new skills they learned.

At the end of the clinic kids had the opportunity to take photos with and get autographs from Sulzer and Thuresson. In addition, the Preds donated all the street hockey equipment used during the clinic – nets, balls, sticks, goalie equipment – to the Gordon Jewish Community Center to help start a street hockey program at the center. “Plans are in the works for winter, spring and summer camps,” said Ryan Sieberling, JCC Children and Family Director.

The Gordon Jewish Community Center located at 801 Percy Warner Blvd. in Nashville is at the center of Jewish life in Nashville, providing recreational, educational, social and cultural programs and services to over 1,700 member families. It is a place where non-Jews are welcome to join, play and learn side by side with their Jewish neighbors. Its purpose has changed little in its one hundred years: to enrich lives and strengthen the community. For more information visit www.nashvillejcc.org.

With the addition of JCC to the Street Pride family, there are now over 45 youth community centers in Middle Tennessee in this free street hockey program. For more information on Preds Street Pride program, click here.
