Nashville, Tenn. (October 9, 2009) – The Nashville Predators and Greater Nashville Area Scholastic Hockey (GNASH) league will partner during the 2009-10 season for the “Featured High School Game of the Week,” a series of nine regular season games, one senior game and one all-star game that will see all 17 GNASH squads, and a total of 24 schools, play a game on Sommet Center ice. All games will take place on Predators Saturday game days from Oct. 10-Jan. 30.
“This program, along with several other youth hockey initiatives is another example of the investments our local ownership group has made to grow hockey in the Middle Tennessee area,” Predators President of Business Operations Ed Lang said.
The game-of-the-week series is part of a league-wide fundraiser that gives GNASH the opportunity to raise $15,000 by selling more than 3,000 tickets to Predator games. This also marks the first of several youth hockey league ticket fundraisers established by the Predators this season.
The Nashville Predators continue their efforts to enhance the awareness and opportunity of youth and amateur hockey in Middle Tennessee. The Predators have created partnerships with local youth hockey associations and assist with fundraising, hockey education and additional ice time to promote the growth of the sport at the grassroots level.
"GNASH is excited about our partnership with the Predators to showcase the skill level and competition of High School Hockey in middle Tennessee,” GNASH league president Joe Griffen said. “Working together we can attract both players and fans to our sport and our league."
