U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp Set to Begin
U.S. Teams Will Compete in Intra-Squad Scrimmages, Face Russia in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Hockey Canada's Junior Development Camp

Hockey Canada opens its Junior Evaluation Camp on Wednesday. Three Preds prospects are participating in Hockey Canada's camp, including returning Gold Medalist Ryan Ellis, Nashville's First Round draft pick in the 2009 Entry Draft. Fellow '09 Draftees Charles-Olivier Roussel and Gabriel Bourque are also in the Camp.

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Fourty-three of the United States’ top players under the age of 20, including Preds 2009 Second Round draftee Zach Budish, will arrive in Lake Placid, N.Y., on Friday (Aug. 7) for the 2009 U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp. The players will be auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2010 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship from Dec. 26, 2009-Jan. 5, 2010, in Saskatoon and Regina, Sask. The camp will feature practices, intrasquad scrimmages and four international games featuring the U.S. facing off against Russia.

Returnees from the 2008 U.S. National Junior Team attending the camp include forwards Tyler Johnson (Spokane, Wash.), Danny Kristo (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Jordan Schroeder (Prior Lake, Minn./University of Minnesota) and Mitch Wahl (Seal Beach, Calif.).

Also highlighting the list of invitees are 10 players from the gold medal-winning 2009 U.S. Men's National Under-18 Team, including forwards Ryan Bourque (Boxford, Mass.), Jerry D'Amigo (Binghamton, N.Y.), Jeremy Morin (Auburn, N.Y.), Kenny Ryan (Franklin Village, Mich.), Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) and A.J. Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.); defensemen Cam Fowler (Farmington Hills, Mich.), Philip Samuelsson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Beau Schmitz (Howell, Mich.); and goalie Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Mich.)

NOTES: Dean Blais, current head coach at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, will serve as head coach of the 2010 U.S. National Junior Team ... Jordan Schroeder will be the only camp invitee attempting to make his third U.S. National Junior Team, having competed for Team USA in 2008 and 2009 ... The U.S. National Junior Evaluation Camp roster will be trimmed following an intrasquad scrimmage on August 9 in preparation for the camp's international games against Russia.
