Koistinen Scores in Finnish Comeback

Ville Koistinen recorded a goal and an assist and Pekka Rinne made 18 saves as Finland rallied from a 3-1 deficit to beat the Czech Republic 4-3 this afternoon. The line of Niklas Hagman, Antti Miettinen and Niko Kapanen accounted for three of Finland’s four goals. Niko Kapanen had two goals and an assist. Finland will play again on Friday, facing Slovakia.
In other action, the US and Sweden played a hard-fought game in which Sweden bounced back from a 5-2 deficit in the middle of the third period to claim a 6-5 overtime victory. Swedish goalkeeper Jonas Gustavsson made 39 saves to secure a victory for his team. Predators Ryan Suter and Colin Wilson were held off the board. Sweden will play reigning world champion Russia on Thursday afternoon. Team USA has a day off, then takes on France on Friday.
