Western Conference Notebook: Nov. 10
The Western Conference features the teams with the most points (San Jose, 26), most goals scored (San Jose 54), and fewest goals allowed (Minnesota, 28) … Chicago, Detroit, and San Jose are the hottest teams in the NHL entering this week. Each team has earned 16 points in its last 10 games played … This week's schedule features 11 out-of-conference match-ups. Western Conference teams hold a 34-20-5 record against Eastern Conference teams this season, including a 5-2-1 mark last week.

Central Division
The Detroit Red Wings have won 5 of their 6 games against Eastern Conference teams (5-1-0), but only 4 of their 7 games against Western Conference teams (4-1-2) … St. Louis is the only team in the division without a winning record at home (4-4-0 at home). The rest of the division is a combined 19-4-4 at home … Detroit (30.9%) and St. Louis (27.1%) rank #1 and #2 in the NHL in power-play efficiency this season … There is only 1 intra-divisional game on the schedule for this week: St. Louis at Chicago on Friday … The division will play 7 games against Eastern Conference teams this week: Pittsburgh at Detroit on Tuesday, St. Louis at Buffalo & Boston at Chicago on Wednesday, Detroit at Tampa Bay on Thursday, Columbus at Buffalo & Detroit at Florida on Friday, and Montreal at St. Louis on Sunday.

Northwest Division
Four of the division’s five teams are all within one point of first place. Vancouver leads the division with 18 points, followed by Calgary, Edmonton, and Minnesota all at 17 points … Colorado is the only team in the division that has played more home games (8) than road games (6) … Calgary leads the Western Conference with 86 power-play opportunities this season. The Flames have scored 17 power-play goals, tied with Detroit for most in the NHL this year … Minnesota leads the NHL in penalty kill efficiency at 92.4% this season … There are 2 intra-divisional match-ups this week: Colorado at Vancouver on Wednesday and Colorado at Edmonton on Saturday … The division plays 4 games against Eastern Conference teams this week: Edmonton at NY Rangers on Monday, Toronto at Calgary on Tuesday, Toronto at Edmonton on Thursday, and Toronto at Vancouver on Saturday.

Pacific Division
San Jose is the only team with an unblemished record at home this season (9-0-0) … Anaheim has been shorthanded a league-high 97 times, 15 more than the next team. The Ducks have allowed 19 power-play goals against, most in the NHL this season … The division has posted a 14-7-1 record against Eastern Conference opponents, the best out-of-conference record among the NHL’s six divisions. The division does not have any games scheduled against Eastern Conference opponents this week … There are 4 intra-divisional games scheduled for this week: Dallas at Los Angeles on Tuesday, Los Angeles at Dallas on Thursday, Dallas at Phoenix on Saturday, and Los Angeles at Anaheim on Sunday.
