Western Conference Notebook: Oct. 27
Entering this week’s play, five teams in the Western Conference have already earned at least 10 points this season. No team in the Conference has less than 6 points this year ... Five of the seven highest scoring teams in the NHL thusfar come from the Western Conference. The NY Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers are the lone Eastern Conference teams on the list with 29 goals each (tied for 4th in the NHL in goals scored) ... This week's schedule features 13 out of conference match-ups. Western Conference teams hold a 23-13-2 record against Eastern Conference foes this season, including a 12-3-2 record last week.

Central Division
Detroit has the best road record in the NHL this season at 4-0-0. The other four Central Division teams are 3-10-1 on the road this season ... The Red Wings also lead the NHL with 38.9 shots on goal per game ... Nashville is tied for the NHL lead with 11 first period goals scored this season ... St. Louis leads the NHL with 13 power-play goals scored this season ... Columbus has allowed the most shorthanded goals against in the NHL this season (3) ... The division will play four games against Eastern Conference opponents this week: Nashville at Washington on Tuesday, Carolina at St. Louis on Thursday, Florida at Nashville & Pittsburgh at St. Louis on Saturday.

Northwest Division
Vancouver leads the NHL with 11 third period goals scored this season ... Minnesota has allowed the fewest goals in the league this season (12). The Wild are the only remaining team without a power-play goal against this season ... Minnesota is the least penalized team in the NHL this season with 8.8 penalty minutes per game ... Calgary is the most penalized team in the Western Conference this season with 22.4 penalty minutes per game ... The division will play six games against Eastern Conference opponents this week: Boston at Edmonton on Monday, Boston at Vancouver on Tuesday, Montreal at Minnesota & Boston at Calgary on Thursday, Edmonton at Carolina on Saturday, Edmonton at Philadelphia on Sunday.

Pacific Division
Los Angeles and San Jose are tied for the fewest shots against per game in the NHL this season, with both teams allowing an average of just 24.3 shots per game ... San Jose leads the NHL with 15 second period goals scored this season ... Anaheim has been called for the most minor penalties this season (62 minor penalties) ... San Jose is tied for the NHL lead with 4 shorthanded goals scored ... The division will play three games against Eastern Conference opponents this week: Pittsburgh at San Jose on Tuesday, Pittsburgh at Phoenix on Thursday, Dallas at Boston on Saturday.
