Preds History: Dumont\'s franchise record 16-game scoring streak
Dec. 29-Jan 31, 2008

For a run of 16 games -- spanning from December 29, 2007 to January 31, 2008 -- Predators Forward J.P. Dumont shattered team records and earned league-wide recognition with a point streak that kept on giving.

During that stretch Dumont had a hand in 22 of 51 Predators goals and registered multiple point games in six of those 16 contests. Dumont also helped the Predators go 9-4-3 in that 16 game stretch, helping them earn 21 of 32 possible points.

Posting a career and franchise-best six-game-goal-scoring streak during his already hot point streak, Dumont broke the record previously held by Steve Sullivan (2005), Greg Johnson (1999) and Sergei Krivokrasov (1998). Dumont also was honored as the National Hockey League’s second star for the month of January, amassing 20 points in just 14 games.

This point streak may also have given Predators management even more incentive keep Dumont around for awhile; on January 31, Dumont was signed to a 4-year $16 million contract.

“J.P. Dumont’s commitment, leadership, work ethic and reputation as a big-game performer has helped him fit perfectly into the Predators culture since he came to Nashville by choice as an unrestricted free agent prior to the 2006-07 season,” Predators General Manager David Poile said. “When he expressed a desire to stay in Nashville, we jumped at the opportunity to keep him as part of our team’s foundation for the next four seasons.” is the official Web site of the Nashville Predators and are trademarks of the Nashville Predators.  NHL, the NHL Shield, the word mark and image of the Stanley Cup and NHL Conference logos are registered trademarks of the National Hockey League.
