14 of the 15 teams made trades at the deadline. Edmonton was the lone team in the conference not to make a move, while the Anaheim Ducks and Colorado Avalanche added three players, the most of any team in the conference.


Central Division
The division made nine deadline transactions … All five teams in the division made moves on Deadline Day … Columbus traded veterans Sergei Fedorov and Adam Foote to Washington and Colorado, respectively, bringing back draft picks and prospects … Chicago added Andrew Ladd from Carolina and traded Tuomo Ruutu (Carolina) and Martin Lapointe (Ottawa) … Detroit picked up defenseman Brad Stuart from Los Angeles in exchange for a pair of draft picks … Nashville added forwards Brandon Bochenski (Anaheim) and Jan Hlavac (Tampa Bay) while parting with a 2008 seventh round pick and future considerations … St. Louis re-signed defenseman Barret Jackman and then moved defenseman Christian Backman (NY Rangers) and Bryce Salvador (New Jersey) in separate trades while adding Cam Janssen.


Northwest Division
Colorado, Minnesota, and Vancouver made moves on Deadline Day, while Calgary made a move early last week … The Flames added defenseman Jim Vandermeer from Philadelphia for a 2009 draft pick … Colorado was the conference's big mover adding free agent Peter Forsberg and then trading for veteran defensemen Adam Foote (Columbus) and Ruslan Salei (Florida). The Avalanche traded away defenseman Karlis Skrastins at the deadline … Minnesota added forward Chris Simon from the NY Islanders for a draft pick … Vancouver added forward Matt Pettinger from Washington for forward Matt Cooke.


Pacific Division
The division combined for 11 deadline transactions, most in the Western Conference, including the additions of Brad Richards and Brian Campbell … All five teams made a trade on Deadline Day … Anaheim made four transactions at the deadline, adding defensemen Marc-Andre Bergeron (NY Islanders) and Jay Leach (Tampa Bay) and goaltender JS Aubin (Los Angeles) while moving forwards Brandon Bochenski (Nashville) and Brandon Segal (Tampa Bay) … Dallas made a splash by acquiring star forward Brad Richards from Tampa Bay along with goaltender Johan Holmqvist in exchange for goaltender Mike Smith and forwards Jeff Halpern and Jussi Jokinen … San Jose added All-Star defenseman Brian Campbell from Buffalo, while trading away forward Steve Bernier (Buffalo) and defenseman Rob Davison (NY Islanders) … Los Angeles traded away defensemen Jaroslav Modry (Philadelphia) and Brad Stuart (Detroit) for a trio of draft picks.
