In ten seasons, the Nashville Predators have evolved from a blue-collar expansion team to a perennial contender, and while the game plan and style of play has changed, one role has always been filled – that of the enforcer. 

From Denny Lambert and Patrick Cote in 1998-99, to Darcy Hordichuk and Jordin Tootoo in 2007-08, a player willing to drop the gloves and go a round or two has always been a fan favorite. Others that have filled the bruiser role through the years have been Stu Grimson, Jim McKenzie, Bob Boughner, Jeremy Stevenson and Jamie Allison. 

Though their contributions don’t always show up on the scoresheet, the enforcer has always played an important role in the history of the franchise, whether it be bringing the squad and fans alive with a spirited round of fisticuffs, or to send a message to the opposing team not to mess with the Preds star players.

Enforcers racked up a franchise-high 79 bouts in 2003-04, while Cote set a single-season high with 30 battles in 1998-99 – he holds also holds the record for most fights in a Preds career with 42.
