Predators Prospect Report (Week of Jan. 28)

Each week NashvillePredators.com will update the progress of the organization’s prospects. Fans can also follow the progress of the team’s AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, by clicking here.

Predators prospect Pekka Rinne participated in the AHL All-Star Weekend. Rinne took home Top Goaltender Award during the skills competition, stopping 16 of 19 total shots over three events. During the All-Star Game, Rinne allowed three goals on 12 shots in one period of play and left with his team leading by two goals. For more on the AHL All-Star Weekend, click here.

The Predators NCAA prospects had productive series last weekend as New Hampshire's Craig Switzer scored a goal and two assists in two games and Notre Dame teammates Ben Ryan and Ryan Thang each scored two goals in the Fighting Irish's two games.

Across the Atlantic, Patric Hornqvist recorded two goals and three assists with a +3 rating in four games with Djurgardens of the Swedish Elite League, while Russian center Sergei Sonin continued his hot stretch and now has four goals and six points with a +5 rating over his last nine games played. Sonin had recorded eight points in his first 33 games of the season.

Fellow Preds prospects Jeremy Smith and Nick Spaling were named to the OHL All-Star Game. Both will play for the Western Conference. The OHL’s All-Star Classic will take place Feb. 5-6 in Sault Ste. Marie. Smith responded by posting a 2-0 record with a 1.50 goals against average, and .957 save percentage in two starts last week.
