On the Road With the Predators: The Fathers Trip
false

The Predators held their annual Fathers Trip from January 21-24 when the team traveled to Denver and Phoenix. The trip allows the dads a rare chance to get an inside look at what the players lives are like during road trips. For the players, the trip is an opportunity to recognize the sacrifices their parents made to help them learn to play hockey; the time commitments (early morning and late night trips to ice rinks for learn-to-skate classes, hockey practices, and games), the equipment purchases, the family-wide commitment to helping them develop their hockey skills.

"One of the highlights of any season with the Predators is to see the fathers with their sons," Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile said. "It's nice to give back to the fathers who have done so much for their sons careers."

This year a record 24 fathers made the trip. Both the players and their fathers enjoy the unique opportunity to spend time together on the road.

"It's nice that your dad gets to see what you go through; your daily routine," defenseman Kevin Klein admitted. "I think my dad envies us a little bit because it's a dream to play in the NHL and play a sport that you love for a living. It's nice that they get to live vicariously through us. My dad enjoyed the trip thoroughly; hanging out with the other dads, going into the locker room, going through the meetings and stuff, watching the games and cheering us on. He was ecstatic. He enjoyed the trip and I enjoyed having him there."
