10th: Legwand posts first career hat trick

January 20, 2007

Eight-and-a-half years after joining the Predators organization as a 17-year-old youngster out of the Detroit suburbs, David Legwand posted his first career hat trick in a 6-3 rout of the Central Division foe Chicago at the Sommet Center.

Legwand’s third goal not only sent the hats flying, but vaulted him into sole possession of first place on the franchise’s all-time goals list with 97.

"Legwand played a terrific game," said Paul Kariya, one of his linemates. "He is one of the most effortless skaters I have ever seen. He has all the skills in the world. It is just a matter of him being consistent night-in and night-out in delivering those skills."

The night was just one of many highlights for Legwand in 2006-07, as he posted a career-best in goals (27), assists (36) and points (63). The team parlayed the performance into a four-game winning streak, their fifth streak of four or more consecutive wins during the record-setting season.
