Nashville Predators captain Jason Arnott was named to the Western Conference All-Star Team on Thursday, becoming the sixth all-star selection in club history. In 41 games, Arnott leads the Predators in points (36), and power play goals (7) in addition to sitting second on the club in both goals (15) and plus/minus rating (+11). This is the second career All-Star Game selection for Arnott, he was also named to the 1997 game as a member of the Edmonton Oilers.

The native of Wasaga Beach, Ont., started his tenure as team captain with a three-point night (2g-1a), including the game-winning goal, on opening night in a 4-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche and has 15 points (7g-8a) in his last 12 games. Arnott was named the NHL’s Third Star of the Week for the period ending Dec. 23 thanks to a four goals and four assists in four games from Dec. 18-22, including his seventh career hat trick and first four-point game of the season in a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

In the month of October, the 6-4, 220-pound center attained a number of personal milestones, starting in game No. 1 of the season when he notched his 700th career point. On Oct. 23 at Los Angeles, Arnott skated in his 900th career NHL game, and four nights later vs. Florida he tallied the 400th assist of the 14-season career.

Originally Edmonton’s first choice, seventh overall, in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Arnott is the fourth Predator to be selected to the All-Star Game, joining Sergei Krivokrasov (1999), Kimmo Timonen (2000, ’04 and ’07) and Tomas Vokoun (2004).
