10th: Forsberg sets building record with six points
January 1, 2003

Everything Peter Forsberg touched turned to gold at the Sommet Center in the Predators’ annual New Year’s Day game in 2003.  Foppa tallied a building-record six points (1g-5a) in a 7-3 Colorado Avalanche victory.

The stoic Swede was business-like in his approach, setting up three goals in the first period, scoring and dishing out another in the middle 20 minutes, then breaking the record previously held by Wayne Gretzky with the primary assist on Milan Hejduk’s second goal of the contest in the third frame.  Hejduk also matched Gretzky’s mark in the tilt with two goals and three assists.

Four years later, Forsberg was welcomed to the Music City with open arms when he arrived from Philadelphia for the 2007 playoff push.
