10th Anniversary Profile: Greg Johnson
He took the first face-off in team history and played 502 games in a Predators uniform.  Beyond the stats, however, Greg Johnson epitomized what it meant to be a Nashville Predator during his eight seasons in Music City:  hard-working, fast, opportunistic, responsible, honest.  And as the second captain in franchise history, Johnson led the Nashville Predators to their first two playoff berths in 2004 (against Detroit) and 2006 (vs. San Jose).

During his tenure with the Predators, Johnson's role with the club changed from that of an offensive leader to the defensive, shutdown center and the team's top penalty-killer and face-off man. The Thunder Bay, Ont., native notched 238 points (93g-145a) while in the Music City.  He ranks among the franchise’s all-time leaders in games played (third), goals (tied for third), points (fourth) and assists (tied for fourth).

Johnson, an original Nashville selection from the 1998 Expansion Draft, retired before the 2006-07 season.

"He was an original Predator," Predators General Manager David Poile said, "and from Day One he became clearly one of the foundation pieces with the organization. He was a solid player and a solid person in a time that had quite a bit of turnover because of what you need to do in an expansion process. He was consistent and he was loyal."
