Nashville Predators sign Matt Ellison
Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed restricted free-agent forward Matt Ellison (EHL-ih-suhn) to a one-year contract.

Ellison, 23 (12/8/83), ranked second in scoring on the American Hockey League’s Philadelphia Phantoms in 2006-07 with 39 points (12g-27a) and appeared in two NHL games with the Philadelphia Flyers. The 6-1, 192-pound forward posted NHL career-highs in 2005-06 with 13 points (3g-10a) in 31 games with Chicago and Philadelphia.

Acquired by Nashville from Philadelphia for future considerations on June 4, 2007, Ellison was originally Chicago’s fourth choice, 128th overall (fourth round), in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The Duncan, B.C. native has 14 points (3g-11a) in 43 career NHL games from 2003-07 with Chicago and Philadelphia.

Ellison will be paid $550,000 at the NHL level and $60,000 at the minor-league level in 2007-08.
