Twenty-seven Nashville Predators prospects are expected to participate in the club’s 2007 prospect conditioning camp, opening on Tuesday at the Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville, Tenn.  Off-ice testing begins on Wednesday, June 27 at 8:00 a.m., and the first on-ice session is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 28.

The purpose of the camp is to educate and direct players in their pro development and conditioning programs, and the week’s events will be presided over by Predators head coach Barry Trotz.  Strength and conditioning coach Dave Good will lead the scheduled training regimen, which includes a variety of dry-land activities and workouts, on-ice fundamentals work, off-ice testing and team-building activities.  The players will also receive instruction on training principles such as sport-specific power and strength enhancement, flexibility and off-ice conditioning.  Members of the coaching staffs of the Predators and Nashville’s primary developmental affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals (American Hockey League), as well as members of the Predators’ player development/scouting staff, will assist with camp sessions.

Eight of Nashville’s nine selections from the 2007 NHL Entry Draft are expected to participate, including Nashville’s first-round selection Jonathan Blum. Blum’s teammate and 2007 Memorial Cup standout defenseman Cody Franson will also be in attendance as well as Brentwood native Blake Geoffrion. The conditioning camp roster also features players acquired by trade, waivers or signed as free agents as well as a number of free-agent invites.
