On Tuesday, Nov. 7, the Nashville Predators participated in the club's Community Day, where 20 members of the team made community appearances in Middle Tennessee. While all players make a number of appearances throughout the season, Tuesday's event was the Predators first in which almost every member of the team was involved in separate endeavors on the same day. Players greeted current fans and made new ones at the various locations, signing autographs and having photos made.

Here is a breakdown of what each participating player did during Community Day:

  • At Baptist Hospital, left wing Paul Kariya visited a number of adult patients and families in their rooms. He also toured the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

  • Forwards Scott Nichol and Scott Hartnell travelled to Smyrna High School in conjunction with the Governor's Highway Safety Office to talk to students about the importance of seatbelts.

  • Defenseman Dan Hamhuis and winger J.P. Dumont participated in a Lochinvar "Stick to Reading=Succeeding" event at Tuckers Crossroads Elementary School in Lebanon. They read a book to a group of students and talked about the importance of reading and education.

  • Forwards Jason Arnott and Steve Sullivan stopped in at the Boys & Girls Club on Stockell Street to assist students with homework and talk about the importance of reading and education.

  • Defensemen Ryan Suter and Shea Weber spent their afternoon with Southwest Airlines at Nashville International Airport. They assisted employees at the gate, checked baggage and made it out onto the tarmac to lead an incoming plane into its proper parking spot.

  • Defensemen Kimmo Timonen and Mikko Lehtonen visited Progress Inc.--a not-for-profit agency committed to enhancing the lives of people with developmental disabilities--greeting residents and assisting with serving dinner.

  • Darcy Hordichuk met with customers inside the showroom of Two Rivers Ford.

  • Marek Zidlicky, Josef Vasicek, Vern Fiddler, and Jerred Smithson assisted with youth hockey clinics at Centennial Sportplex for kids ages 4-9 who had never skated.

  • The Supercuts location on Scarritt Place had two new haircutters on staff Tuesday afternoon--goaltender Chris Mason and defenseman Greg Zanon. Ironically sporting two of the most cleanly shaved heads on the team, the players greeted clients and assisted with a haircut for one willing volunteer.

  • Winger Jordin Tootoo worked the front counter of the Hardee's restaurant on Acorn Drive.

  • Forward Scottie Upshall seated customers and assisted servers at the Applebee's restaurant on Thompson Lane.

The following day, Predators coaches Brent Peterson and Peter Horachek helped out newcomers to the sport at a youth hockey clinic at Southern Ice Arena in Franklin.

Throughout the year, Predators players often make appearances in the community which are open to the public, such as an autograph sessions at a local store or as a guest on a radio show.
