The Nashville Predators Get Out And Learn! (G.O.A.L!) free youth hockey program kicked off its inaugural four-week session this past week at Southern Ice Arena (Oct. 25) and Centennial Sportsplex (Oct. 29) as part of the Predators' commitment to the development of youth hockey in Middle Tennessee. Over 75 new hockey players took to the ice for the Preds G.O.A.L! program at local rinks. Predators forward Vernon Fiddler and defenseman Mikko Lehtonen stopped by as guest instructors at the first session at Southern Ice Arena.

G.O.A.L! has been created to offer youngsters the opportunity to experience the excitement of hockey without the cost of purchasing equipment. Designed for boys and girls ages 4 to 9 years old who have no prior hockey or skating experience, this free four-week course introduces the exciting sport of hockey to kids while teaching life lessons of teamwork, sportsmanship and self-confidence. As the area's National Hockey League team, the Predators are dedicated to supporting the development of hockey at all levels. In order for this growth to occur, the Predators recognize that there's a need for local skating facilities to be accessible to beginners learning the sport at a young age.

Online registration for the current sessions is full; however, the next four-week sessions will begin in February 2007 and again in April 2007. Online registration will open January 2007. Boys and girls ages 4 to 9 years old with no prior hockey or skating experience are encouraged to register at that time. Please visit the Get Out and Learn! page in the Play Hockey section of this site for more information.
