Predators sign Alexander Radulov

Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed forward Alexander Radulov (rah-DOO-lahf).

Radulov, 19 (7/5/86), leads the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Quebec Remparts and ranks third in the league with 76 points (29g-47a) in 33 games this season.  The Nizhy Tagil, Russia native recently earned a silver medal with his country at his second (U-20) World Junior Championship tournament, posting four points (1g-3a) in six tournament games.

The 6-1, 188-pound right wing, Nashville's first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, made headlines earlier this season when he scored six goals (6g-1a-7pts) in Quebec's 11-2 win over Drummondville on Friday, October 28, setting a new franchise mark for goals in a game and tying the franchise record for single-game points.  Radulov was named the QMJHL and the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week for the week of October 24-30, 2005 after totaling 14 points (8g-6a) with a +12 rating in three Quebec victories.

During the 2004-05 season, his first in North America, Radulov finished third on Quebec in goals (32), assists (43) and points (75).  He led his team in playoff goals (6) and tied for the team lead in playoff points (6g-5a-11pts).  He also finished seventh in the QMJHL and first among league rookies with a +30 rating and captured a silver medal with Russia at the 2005 World Junior Championships.

Radulov becomes the second member of the Predators' 2004 NHL Entry Draft class to sign an NHL contract. Goaltender Pekka Rinne, an eighth-round selection (258th overall) in 2004, signed with Nashville on August 23, 2005 and earned a victory in his NHL debut on December 15, 2005 vs. Chicago.
