Donations collected Friday night, Sunday
Fans will have a chance to make donations at the Predators game vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday, September 23 (game is at 7:00 p.m., doors open at 6:00 p.m.) and the game vs. the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday, September 25 (game is at 5:00 p.m., doors open at 4:00 p.m.). The game vs. Carolina was an extra preseason game that was planned as a benefit to the Predators Foundation and all distributed tickets were free.
"Predators fans have always been generous," said Predators Senior VP of Communications and Development Gerry Helper. "These two game collections provide the opportunity to help two causes simultaneously--the relief efforts as well as local organizations that are facing additional challenges in the wake of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts."
The NHL and NHLPA have previously committed $1 million to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts while several teams have coordinated local market activities aimed at raising and donating funds to various relief-related efforts. In addition to the preseason game collection, Predators staff donated clothing and the Predators have participated in several local efforts, including last Friday's WKRN-TV and WNPT-TV telethon to benefit local charities.
